San Diego Civic Dance Association’s 2023 FNOT: Fundraising Night of Theater is our BIG annual fundraising event and review/preview show of our favorite choreography from the year before and some sneak peaks at the year ahead. We need you now more than ever! Prior to the Covid pandemic, SDCDA’s hard working volunteers raised over $150,000 annually to cover program costs. Like many nonprofits, we are still in recovery mode and we need your support. In addition, a lack of payment by the ticket company we used for our 77th Annual June 2023 recital shows has impeded our ability to properly fund our program. Celebrate Filipino American History Month this October through this free community art event! OUT OF THE BOONDOCKS is a docuseries on KPBS about the Philippine-American community, the largest Asian-American demographic in San Diego and California. The series' hosts talk to local creatives, educators, and organizers, those making a mark in the community and actively documenting stories around the Philippine diaspora, which has historically been limited and omitted. Season 2’s six episodes will air weekly on KPBS beginning October 12 at 8:30 p.m. Catch up and watch Season 1 now with the PBS App. During the event, enjoy two new episodes, a panel discussion by SDCCD Fil-Am educators on Filipinx themes, and the chance to win prizes! The event is hosted by the series production team, the San Diego Community College District, and the Filipino American National Historical Society (FANHS).

The 2nd Annual Baja Lifestyle and Travel Expo presented by the expert team at Baja Bound Insurance is set to take place on September 30, 2023. Guest speakers for this year’s event include: Jorge Meraz (CROSSING SOUTH on KPBS), Angela Kemsley from Wildcoast, Michael Emery - Slow Baja, Michael Gardiner - food writer and cookbook author, and Nathan Stuart - Legends Overlanding. For the foodies, a delicious lineup of food trucks will be on hand, serving up mouthwatering dishes that epitomize the flavors of Baja as well as a beer and wine garden featuring Baja-based breweries and winemakers including Cerveceria Transpeninsular, Momentum Brewing, Baja Brewing Company, Corona del Valle, Cava Maciel, Bodegas F Rubio, along with Local Roots Kombucha. An assortment of custom #vanlife and overlanding vehicles and suppliers will also be showcased, fueling the wanderlust of aspiring explorers seeking their next cross-border adventure. Attendees will also be treated to live music and a chance to win fantastic raffle prizes throughout the day.
