Watch, laugh, groan, or join word nerds from across the city in a battle to see who's the punniest of them all—and win prizes! Pundemonium! is a three-part event based on the format used by pun contests in cities nationwide. Curious about competing? Here are the three ways you can do that! 1. Give a two-minute speech riddled with puns on a topic of your choice in "Battle of the PUNdits." Click here to check out this video for examples of pun speeches from world champions. 2. Write down as many puns as you can think of on a given topic in two minutes during "Punslingers." You can do this in teams and you can sign up for it at the show. 3. Go head-to-head with opponents in a tournament-style pun-off in "The Punger Games." It's like the nerdiest rap battle you've ever seen. Skip ahead in this video a bit to see examples of how a truly epic pun-off goes.   • The Youth4Climate Fall 2023 Summit is for high school and college students interested in honing their skills as an activist of any kind! Participants will also attend multiple engaging workshops and activities aimed at fueling collaborative efforts to envision a climate-friendly future, build local movements and combat eco-anxiety in a nourishing and positive way.   • The Friends of the Coronado Public Library present a luncheon with author Alice Hoffman in-person, in partnership with Warwicks Bookstore, as she discusses and signs her new book, "The Invisible Hour" at the Nautilus Room, located within the Coronado Community Center. This event is a fund-raiser for the Friends of the Coronado Public Library and a paid ticket is required to enter. The ticket price of $50 includes lunch and a signed copy of The Invisible Hour.   • From the KPBS weekend arts preview: Moondaddy performs a pre-release show at Soda Bar, alongside other acts Jackie Medoza and more. Moondaddy is helmed by multi-instrumentalist Cara Potiker, and the upcoming album "Poet Lies" will come out Aug. 18 on the Volar Records label. Indie dream pop artist moondaddy first began in singer/songwriter Cara Potiker’s San Diego bedroom, dreamt up as a pressure valve for the existential dread of the 2020 lockdown. During that time Potiker began diving deep into analog audio, spending hours in her bedroom songwriting and making physical demo tapes.After pairing with Texas-based producer El Cosmophonico (real name Manuel Calderon), Potiker began transforming those demo tapes into expansive reverb-soaked odysseys with her forthcoming debut album, Poet Lies.
