A true rarity, Vivaldi’s recently discovered, seldom performed masterpiece is set in Mexico during the Spanish conquest that led to the end of the Aztec Empire. While this 18th century opera is a highly romanticized and naive take on the historical events of over 200 years earlier, it nevertheless is surprisingly sensitive and empathetic to the tragedy of the Aztecs as they fight for their land and the survival of their culture and people. The 2025 CALICO (Computer-assisted Language Learning Consortium) Conference will be held in San Diego this year at the SDSU Main Campus. The conference gathers over 200 attendees yearly who are interested in computer-assisted language learning, from language teachers to researchers and professionals in language learning technologies. This year, the conference will be held from May 27 to May 31, with pre-conference workshops taking place May 27 and 28.
