A hidden gem on Balboa Park’s West Mesa, the Trees for Health Garden features dozens of trees, shrubs, and groundcover plants that are prized for their medicinal value by various cultures around the world. This guided tour of the garden highlights the five flavors central to Chinese medicine. You will explore different plants in this unique garden and learn about their corresponding flavor and where they can be found in everyday life. Optional tasting samples will be available at each stop. By the end of the tour, you’ll have a better understanding of each of the five flavors and how to incorporate them into your daily routine. Please note that all are welcome on this tour, and those with food sensitivities are encouraged to avoid any samples that may cause them harm.
