Instructor George Galdorisi is a New York Times best-selling writer who has published multiple works in all media. This course is designed for beginning, emerging and even accomplished writers who seek to have their work - novels, non-fiction books, articles, essays, you name it - published. We'll explore all options, from major publishing houses to popular magazines and newspapers, not to mention the ubiquitous on-line and electronic opportunities. Please join San Diego Watercolor Society as they continue to celebrate their 60th Anniversary with an exciting presentation of “Cubism Revealed” by Bruce Haggarty on April 12, 2025, 1 p.m. - 2:30 p.m., at the SDWS Gallery in the Arts District, Liberty Station. Bruce attended Tufts University, graduating with a degree in Art History and obtained his master’s degree at Boston University in Art History, specializing in American Art. He has taught art history at many local colleges and universities and has traveled the world extensively as a high-altitude photographer. He will give us an informative dialog on the history of Cubism and the artists who created a new way of looking at our world through shape, perspective and dimensions. Learn Basketry Basics! Saturday, May 3, 1 p.m. - 6 p.m. In this basket weaving workshop, students will learn to weave a traditional round basket while customizing it your way with different color, weave, and rim options. Weaving techniques taught in this class include: twining, over-under interrupted, 3-Rod wale, braided rim, or lashed on rim. The size of each finished basket will be approximately 8 inches at the base and 5 inches high. Students: Please bring sturdy scissors & an old towel if you can! No experience necessary. Assata Shakur, a Black liberation activist who was given political asylum in Cuba after her 1979 escape from a U.S. prison, has died. Officials in New Jersey, where Shakur had been arrested, convicted and imprisoned, said she was 78.
