  • In this class designed for beginner to intermediate students, participants will learn step-by-step the fundamentals of wheel throwing, trimming and glazing. It’s the perfect class to get an initial experience of working with clay and make gifts for loved ones. Includes: class clay, firing and glazing.   • In this six week class students ages 13-17 will begin by learning the basics, focusing on 3 essential steps of the throwing process: centering, opening, and pulling. Students will be led in working with ceramics, hand-building and wheel throwing, learning slab construction, pinch pots, surface texture, clay impression and more.   • Peter Bolland is professor of philosophy and humanities at Southwestern College. He is the author of The Seven Stone Path: An Everyday Journey to Wisdom. In this talk, he will discuss the search for wisdom as humanity’s oldest quest. What is wisdom? And how is it different from knowledge? Is wisdom a body of information, or a way of being in the world? Is it universal or culturally specific? Why do so many wisdom traditions agree that wisdom is ineffable, that is, exists beyond language and concepts? Philosophy, the academic discipline generally tasked with this inquiry, is rife with conflicting perspectives on these most pressing questions.
