Through the power of Chicana and Chicano Art, "The Many Worlds and Identities of Guadalupe" explores Guadalupe as an embodiment of these worlds in an attempt to better understand Chicana/o culture and identity in our contemporary world Alberto López Pulido is the founding chair of the Department of Ethnic Studies at the University of San Diego, where he has taught since 2003. A native of San Diego’s South Bay, his upbringing between borders shaped his fronterizo perspective. He began his education at Southwestern College before earning degrees in Sociology and Chicano Studies from UC San Diego. He later completed graduate studies at the University of Notre Dame under the mentorship of Dr. Julian Samora. Pulido’s research explores the intersection of Chicana/o/x communities, spirituality, and cultural expression. His award-winning work on Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Logan Heights is among his important works of scholarship.
