  • San Diego, CA — Woodward Contemporary is proud to present "Subtle Elegance and Quiet Depth," a solo exhibition showcasing the evocative work of acclaimed artist Cathrine Edlinger-Kunze. Opening on June 7, this exhibition invites viewers to step into an intimate world of movement, memory, and emotion. Focusing primarily on the human form, Edlinger-Kunze captures the delicate balance between strength and vulnerability through her powerful depictions of figures, dancers, and performers. Her compositions are rich with human expression, blending gesture and emotion into works that resonate long after the viewer walks away. "Cathrine's work simmers with brilliance. There’s a quiet intensity that invites reflection — a beauty that unfolds with time," says Gigi Woodward, Owner and Curator of Woodward Contemporary. Visitors will experience a collection that is as graceful as it is grounded — paintings that don’t shout, but whisper, linger, and stay. Opening Reception: June 7, 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. Visit: https://www.woodwardcontemporary.com/gallery-space Cathrine Edlinger-Kunze on Facebook / Instagram

  • Join New Fortune at the San Diego Central Library for a one-night-only staged reading of "The Dover Panda Trial" starring John de Lancie (the iconic "Q" in Star Trek and co-owner with Leonard Nimoy of "Alien Voices") and an incredible ensemble of actors directed by New Fortune's A.D., Richard Baird. Co-written by John de Lancie (Q) and Kristen Tregar (Ph.D), "The Dover Panda Trial" is a radio-style play based on the actual transcripts and surrounding footage from the 2005 trial, Kitzmiller v. Dover Area School Board—where the school board in Dover, Pennsylvania was sued for requiring the teaching of a new “science” called “Intelligent Design” alongside Darwinian evolution in the ninth-grade science classroom. The reading will be followed by a brief panel discussion and Q&A. There will also be an "American Monkeys" book sale (the first published abridgment of the Scopes Monkey Trial transcripts) to benefit public libraries (paperbacks $20).
