Artwork entries for this exhibition will be accepted between Monday, March 3–Friday, May 9, 2025. Each artist may enter up to one (1) artwork for this exhibition. Artists will be notified via email after May 12. CALL FOR ENTRIES OPEN MARCH 3–MAY 9, 2025 CRITERIA Artists: Must have completed a class at the Athenaeum School of the Arts or PEEC program within the past two years. Media: Maximum one (1) work/image per artist (jpegs, no larger than 2 MB). 2-D and 3-D media. Work must be ready-to-hang and may not exceed 60 inches in width or height. Date: Artwork must have been completed within the past 2 years.   • Feature Film: "INAY (MAMA)" by Thea Loo Winner, Feature Film Impact Award and Best Editing in a Feature, Gender Equity in Media San Diego Premiere With the desire to help answer unresolved questions and heal lingering wounds, Inay investigates the flawed immigration pathways between the Philippines and Canada that kept so many Filipino children from their mothers. Inay, which means "mama" in Tagalog, is an intimate and personal look at the experiences and trauma endured by many Filipino Canadians. Filmmaker Thea Loo and her husband Jeremiah Reyes, who is also the film's Director of Photography, explore the intersections of mental health and migrant labor and the effects that continue to be felt years later. Through intimate conversations, this self-reflexive documentary aims to bridge the silences and disconnect between the first and second generations of the Filipino community.   • Landscape Painting: Problem Solving and Critique Pat Kelly Saturday, 9 a.m.–1 p.m. November 1 (1 day, 4 total hours of instruction) La Jolla Studio $100/$120 This discussion-only workshop will help students improve their landscape painting by learning how to solve problems and critique their own work. For more experienced painters, it is an opportunity for discussion and a springboard for developing a personal style. We will look at student landscape paintings two ways: - Virtual: Students submit a digital image of one of their landscape paintings before the workshop. - Real Time: Students also bring the painting to the workshop for critique. You will have an opportunity to ask questions about your work and learn how to self-critique. Pat will critique with live digital examples using submitted images. The digital format is especially valuable for demonstrating corrections, visualizing suggestions, and generating discussion.
