The number of San Diego County residents hospitalized with the coronavirus increased from 332 to 355, while the number of those patients in intensive care declined from 94 to 92, according to the latest state figures.

The latest chilly winter storm dropped varying amounts of rain on San Diego County before clearing, with another storm expected Monday, the National Weather Service said.

SB 510 becomes effective Jan. 1 and requires health plans and health insurers to reimburse both in-network and out-of-network providers for COVID-19 testing and related services without any cost-sharing, prior authorization or other utilization management requirements.

A flood watch was issued through noon Friday for the entire county.

San Diego County public health officials have reported 2,336 new COVID-19 cases and eight additional deaths associated with the virus.

The sheen was detected Wednesday about a mile offshore from Bolsa Chica State Beach, according to the California Department of Fish and Wildlife's Office of Spill Prevention and Response. The source of the sheen was unknown.

The announcement comes after a judge struck down San Diego's COVID-19 vaccine mandate, saying only the state can make that a requirement.

Earlier this month, supervisors unanimously voted to oppose any further placements of sexually violent predators until local jurisdictions are able to fully participate in the placement process, including having full veto authority.
