Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2024 at 10 p.m. on KPBS TV The story of Project Recover, a small team of accomplished scientists, oceanographers, archaeologists, historians, researchers, and military veterans who have dedicated their lives to scouring the depths of the ocean and the farthest corners of the earth to search for, recover, and repatriate the remains of the more than 80,000 Americans missing in action since World War II.

Lion researcher Dr. Philip Stander follows three orphaned desert lion cubs as they navigate the brutal Skeleton Coast of Namibia. Watch the cubs learn to adapt, hunt, and defy the odds of survival in this vast desert territory.

Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2024 at 9 p.m. on KPBS TV. Saifullah and Ismail Haqmal are two brother interpreters who served alongside U.S. Forces in Afghanistan for over a decade. The film follows the brothers from their childhood growing up during the Russian/Afghan war, through the Taliban era, then the invasion by NATO forces after 9/11. When Robert deployed to Afghanistan in 2009 he worked with Saifullah and Ismail during that deployment and they all became close friends. After Robert's unit leaves Afghanistan the brothers become desperate to escape they turn to their American friends to petition Congress and help them escape the Taliban's rise to power.

Saturday, Nov. 9, 2024 at 11 a.m. on KPBS 2 (not in the PBS app). A film exploring the story of an American World War II Prisoner of War 75 years later. Filmmaker Mark Pedri had never heard his grandfather Silvio’s story despite spending nearly every day together for 10 years. It wasn’t until after Silvio’s death that Mark found an archive of old photos, letters, and documents detailing Silvio’s journey as a Prisoner of War in World War II.
