Labor Day is usually a bonanza for tennis fans, with the U.S. Open showcasing the sport's greatest players in a full day of action. Unfortunately this year, Mother Nature hasn't been playing along, and most of the games have been rain delayed. But such hurdles are water off a duck's back for Navy Corpsman Angelo Anderson, one of the tournament's ballpersons, and the survivor of once-incapacitating injuries suffered in Afghanistan.

Navy corpsman Angelo Anderson was never much of a tennis fan, but he'll be running among the game's greatest players over the next two weeks as he serves as a ballperson for the U.S. Open. Anderson survived bone-shattering bullet wounds while serving in Afghanistan, and is now able to walk - and run - with enough skill to beat out 500 applicants for the ballperson job.

Army Spc. Kenneth Clifford Alvarez, 23, of Santa Maria, California was killed August 23 in Haft Asiab, Afghanistan. Alvarez and Army Pvt. Jonathon Michael Dean Hostetter, 20, of Missouri, were both killed when the enemy attacked their unit with an improvised explosive device.
