Film Review: ‘Persepolis’

Tom Fudge: The new animated movie Persepolis is based on a graphic novel, and it looks different than anything put out by Pixar or Disney. The animation is in stark black and white with thick black lines and shades of gray. The author of the novel also directed the film, and the story is based on her life as a young girl coming of age in Iran, during the overthrow of the Shah and the rise of Islamic fundamentalism.

The film is in French, and is France's entry for this year's Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film.
