Roberts Officially Becomes Newest Supervisor As Danon Concedes

Steve Danon, the Republican candidate for the San Diego County Board of Supervisors District 3 seat, conceded the race today.

His opponent, Democrat Dave Roberts, held a press conference today to declare his victory. Roberts led Danon by about 2,800 votes Wednesday evening.

Roberts becomes the first new San Diego County supervisor since 1995, and the first Democratic supervisor in San Diego County in almost 20 years.

Republican Supervisor Dianne Jacob welcomed Roberts to the board with a statement and a post on her Facebook page.

“Congratulations to Dave Roberts on his election victory!" she wrote. "I’m sure his extensive experience in local government and in the private sector, including his background as a financial manager, will be invaluable as we continue to look for ways to improve how we do the public’s business. Dave brings his own fresh perspective to county government, and that’s always healthy for a public agency and good for taxpayers. I look forward to working with Dave as we move forward to make our county government the best that it can be for the people we serve.”
