Authorities Identify Dead Man Found Near U.S. Border

The dead man found with multiple gunshot wounds in an unincorporated area just north of the U.S.-Mexico border was identified Thursday.

Oscar Resendiz Carcache was found by a U.S. Border Patrol agent Wednesday at around 6 a.m. about four miles from Enrico Fermi Drive and Via de la Amistad, just east of Otay Mesa, sheriff's Lt. John Maryon said.

The 24-year-old Mexican citizen was shot multiple times in the upper body.

Anyone with information was asked to call (858) 974-2321 or after-hours, (858) 565-5200. People who want to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477. Tips leading to an arrest are eligible for an up to $1,000 reward.
