A play about fathers, daughters, and what we choose to see.
Birds of North America by Anna Ouyang Moench.
From one of the writers of Apple TV’s hit series, Severance, comes a father-daughter story that spans decades in one suburban backyard. John and his daughter Caitlyn are birders. As they scan the skies, looking for elusive birds, the climate and their worlds will change as they struggle to understand the parts of one another that defy understanding. Produced in partnership with the San Diego Audubon Society.

Moxie Theatre
MOXIE Theatre is a professional non-profit theatre founded by the critically acclaimed group of performers and directors: Jo Anne Glover, Liv Kellgren, Delicia Turner Sonnenberg and Jennifer Eve Thorn in 2005. MOXIE’s mission is to create more diverse and honest images of women for our culture using the art of theatre. Through the production of primarily female playwrights and the special attention given to plays that defy female stereotypes, MOXIE expands the idea of what is feminine. Our dedication to finding work that is underproduced means we’re discovering the classics of the future. MOXIE fans know that each distinct MOXIE production will always share one similar quality – moxie. Moxie is defined as “courage, pluck, gumption, perseverance, guts.” It may be the hero of a play who embodies the term moxie, or a challenging subject matter. Perhaps a playwright has invented an original world for audiences to explore, or actors are asked to stretch to new heights and break new ground in story-telling. In whatever way it is revealed, moxie is the unifying quality that defines all of our productions. MOXIE is located in the Aztec Shopping Center on El Cajon Blvd near San Diego State University off the 8 freeway in the Rolando neighborhood. We recommend exiting the 8 freeway at 70th street and continuing south on 70th street, turn right no El Cajon Blvd (heading west.) MOXIE is located on the south side of the street. Please note that you can not turn left into our parking lot when heading west on El Cajon Blvd. It’s necessary to make a u-turn in order to turn right into the Aztec Shopping Center. We’re located in the back corner of the center. Look for our marquee over the door.
