A group of local medical marijuana advocates say they've had it with the County Board of Supervisors, and have taken the first steps towards filing a term limits initiative. Advocates don't like the board's decision to challenge California's medical marijuana law. KPBS Reporter Kenny Goldberg has more.
San Diego County supervisors say federal law that makes marijuana illegal should supersede state law that permits its use. The board has also refused to follow state mandates that require counties to issue ID cards to medical marijuana patients.
Retired nurse Claudia Little thinks the board is dead wrong. She's among those pushing for a ballot measure to limit supervisors to two consecutive terms.
Little: "They're not listening to us as their constituents. If they are not willing to represent us, then why should we have them as our representatives."
The proposed term limits initiative would apply retroactively. The San Diego County Counsel argues that would be illegal.
All current board members have served for at least a decade.
