A new survey reveals most female college students don't like the way spring break is promoted or advertised. The American Medical Association conducted the survey. KPBS Reporter Kenny Goldberg has the story.
It's no secret that binge drinking and risky sexual activity are part of many spring break celebrations. But the AMA survey reveals most female college students believe spring break promotions glorify and encourage dangerous behavior.
The AMA's Dr. Richard Yost says most of those polled would support some policy changes.
Yost: An overwhelming majority of the respondents indicated that they'd be very supportive of changing the way that spring break is advertised and promoted.
The San Diego State Daily Aztec newspaper doesn't allow ads for spring break vacations to Mexico to mention alcohol. But the school itself doesn't impose such restrictions on on-campus posters or flyers. Kenny Goldberg, KPBS News.
