This week Carol Lam was among former federal prosecutors talking to Congress about the effect of politics on their jobs. We'll have local reaction. The McMillin development at the former Naval Training Center has come under renewed scrutiny. We'll separate the substance from the noise.

The Escondido police chief responded this week to demands that his department work closely with the Border Patrol. We'll find out what he proposed.
