When you drive down Chula Vista's third avenue, known to many long time residents as downtown, the feel is that of a sleepy western town with not much happening. Appearances sometimes lie. Despite the old storefront shops and offices on that particular street, San Diego's second largest city has greatly changed with the residential Eastlake development in its eastern sector.
Now the focus is on Chula Vista's western edge along the bayfront. Late last week, Gaylord Entertainment revealed its design for a two million square foot hotel and convention center which could jump start the Bayfront Master Plan.
