NPR Investigates America's 30-Year War on Drugs
Tom Fudge: A report by the council on foreign relations estimates the U.S. accounts for about 60 percent of worldwide demand for illegal drugs. That used to be the kind of information that made the so-called "war on drugs" a top national priority. But a new war -- the war on terror -- has very much eclipsed the drug war in the public imagination. Of course, the U.S. is still spending billions of dollars on trying to stop the flow of illegal drugs. National Public Radio has decided it's time to take a look at war on drugs, and ask how it's going.
The Forgotten War airs next Monday, April 2 on NPR's All Things Considered and Morning EditionGuest
