Mayor Sanders Unveils 2008 Budget Proposal
Maureen Cavanaugh (Guest Host): This week marks the beginning of the budgeting season in the City of San Diego. San Diego Mayor Jerry Sanders released some key elements of his 2008 budget proposal yesterday afternoon, with the complete budget proposal set to be unveiled on Friday. Once the full budget is released, it will kick off two-months of discussion between the mayor and City Council about the individual elements of the proposal.
But before the council takes on the 2008 budget plan, it has to address a more pressing matter. Later this morning, the council is set to discuss whether the mayor should have the power to make mid-year budget cuts without council approval.
