It's a holiday weekend -- and that means Highway Patrol officers will be out in force around the state. CHP Commissioner Mike Brown says 80 percent of their officers will be on the roadways, looking for problems.

Brown : DUI, not wearing your seat belt and speeding. And we're going to be focusing on those just like we do everyday but in a greater concentration with our increased staffing out there.

Brown says DUI arrests are up -- both last year and this year. He advises travelers to leave plenty of time to get to their destination and reminds those who may drink to use a designated driver.
