A San Diego attorney who specializes in filing suits concerning landslide damage has already found clients among those who suffered losses in the Mount Soledad land slide this week. KPBS reporter Alison St John has more.
Attorney Patrick Catalano has wasted no time in taking action after Wednesday’s dramatic landslide in La Jolla.
Catalano : We now have two of the red-tagged homes as clients and I now have my staff all day today interviewing people who have called, so we probably will end up with numerous clients in the area of the landslide.
The slide destroyed two homes and made 15 uninhabitable.
Catalano has recently settled a suit against the city of Carlsbad for $12 million on behalf of homeowners whose condos were damaged in a slide. He says he has a $30 million case against the city of Oceanside for a similar incident that will go to trial next year if no settlement is reached.
Mayor Jerry Sanders and city attorney Mike Aguirre say they believe the evidence will show the city is not at fault for the landslide.
