The first of San Diego’s two college football bowl games takes place tomorrow. Kick-off is a5 p.m. at Qualcomm Stadium and organizers are expecting a larger crowd. KPBS reporter Katie Orr has details.
This is the fourth year for the Poinsettia Bowl . This year’s game features a match-up between ninth ranked Boise State and 11 th ranked Texas Christian University. Bowl Spokesman Mark Neville says it looks like there’ll be a good turn out for both of the teams.
Neville: Each team receives 7,500 tickets. And how many they sell -- and of those 7,500, how many people actually come out to San Diego to watch the game, we don’t know yet. But all the signs are that both schools are doing pretty well.
Neville says he expects about 40,000 people to attend the game. The bowl’s website says the game has generated nearly $28 million in economic activity for San Diego since it was first played in 2005.
