San Diego Fleet Week Starts Friday (Video)

San Diego Fleet Week kicks off tomorrow with Operation Liberty Call in the Gaslamp District. Dick's Last Resort is hosting the free event, which is basically an opportunity to raise a few glasses with the men and women of the military.

The rest of Fleet Week is packed with all sorts of events. The big name ones include the Big Bay Family Festival on Saturday and Sunday. This free event allows folks to board Navy ships and talk with Sailors to find out about what they do. One of the ships available for touring, according to the Navy, is the aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan, which just returned to its home port last week after a seven-month deployment.

San Diego Fleet Week closes with the Miramar Air Show on September 30th, and October 1st and 2nd. This year's event celebrates the 100th anniversary of Naval Aviation. Fittingly, the theme is: “A Salute to San Diego: Birthplace of Naval Aviation 1911-2011."
