Despite the wet weather, San Diego's Meals-on-Wheels program managed to get office workers out to sample some food truck fare at lunchtime today.
About 20 trucks converged at a Kearny Mesa auto dealership for the Food Truck War Charity Challenge.
Meals-on-Wheels President Debbie Case says 20 percent of sales went to Meals-on-Wheels, which benefits seniors who aren't able to leave their homes to get food.
"These are seniors that are homebound," said Case. "So they don't get out, and they can't go do their grocery shopping, and they can't cook for themselves. So they get two meals a day, and it fulfills two-thirds of their nutritional needs each day."
Case said Meals-on-Wheels distributes about 400,000 meals each year in San Diego.
