Police Find Body Near San Diego River In Mission Valley

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Officers looking for a South Bay resident today found a body believed to be that of the missing man alongside the San Diego River in Mission Valley.

Chula Vista police contacted their San Diego counterparts about 7:30 a.m. to request assistance in following up on a lead about a missing person case, SDPD Detective Gary Hassen said.

San Diego police found the corpse on the riverbed off the 100 block of Camino de la Reina, south of Fashion Valley mall.

Homicide detectives were called in to determine if the man's death was suspicious, Hassen said. The county Medical Examiner's Office will identify the body and determine how the man died.
