Agents with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the FBI served a search warrant at the offices of Balboa Ambulance in the 1100 block of Broadway in El Cajon at about 6:30 a.m., said Darrell Foxworth, a spokesman for the latter agency.
The court order approving collection of potential evidence at the premises was sealed, prohibiting the government from publicly disclosing details about the case, including its general nature, Foxworth said.
The search was expected to continue into the afternoon. No immediate arrests were anticipated, the spokesman said.
According to 10News.com, the company previously was fined $50,000 by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement for hiring undocumented immigrants. A lawyer for the company told 10News Tuesday's raid was not connected to the previous infraction.
