Chula Vista To Play Tennessee Team In Little League World Series
The all-star team from the Chula Vista-based Park View Little League will play its counterpart from the Goodlettsville Baseball Little League of Goodlettsville, Tennessee, Tuesday in an elimination game in the Little League World Series in South Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
Goodlettsville, the Southeast Region champion, lost 3-1 Monday to the all-star team from the Maine-Endwell Little League of Endwell, New York, the Mid-Atlantic Region champion, forcing it into an elimination game.
Park View will be playing for the first time since Saturday's 5-0 victory over the all-star team from the McAllister Park American Little League that kept it in contention for the world championship.
Park View was supposed to play Monday, but rain Sunday in South Williamsport, Pennsylvania forced suspension of play and the rescheduling of games originally planned for Sunday and Monday.
A loss in its opening game of the World Series has put Park View in a must-win situation in the modified double-elimination tournament. Any loss before Saturday's U.S. Championship Game will end Park View's participation in the tournament.
