The case is re-examined in the new Los Angeles Times podcast, "It Was Simple: The Betty Broderick Murders."

It's been 30 years since the Betty Broderick murder case made headlines in San Diego and across the nation. What started out as a picture-perfect marriage, ended with Broderick being convicted for the double-murder of her ex-husband and his new wife.

The case has been the subject of countless books and TV movies. Now, it's being re-examined in the new Los Angeles Times podcast "It Was Simple: The Betty Broderick Murders."

Journalist Patt Morrison wrote and produced the podcast. She joined Midday Edition on Wednesday to discuss why this case continues to captivate the public's attention and its impact on California divorce laws.
