Instead of highlighting a Hollywood trailer I decided to highlight the preview trailer for The Visual Underground Reunion (Warning: Mature content). If the people putting on this film-music-art event put this much creative effort into the teaser trailer for their show imagine how good the show will be. The trailer actually reminded me of the clever stop motion animation with dolls in the Latino thriller "Bajo la Sal/Under the Salt." Check it out.
After a two-year hiatus, San Diego’s highly original Film+Rock+Art showcase is back for a special reunion event January 7th at the Casbah. The TVU Reunion will present a showcase of new short films, animations, and videos collected and arranged with the intent to mix well with drink. Also featured will be a custom art installation set to the vibe of DJ Edgartronic and designed to showcase works by artists from San Diego to Santa Fe. Capping the night will be two local bands accompanied by the AVicious VJs who will be providing a special “venue wide” projection installation.
Films featured include local band videos; award-winning voice-over comedy “Pissing Vocal Gold;” and the awkward problem of a $73 prostitute in “Blueberry.”
TVU runs Thursday, January 7th beginning at 8pm at the Casbah (2501 Kettner Blvd. San Diego). You can pick up pre-sale tickets for $6 at http://casbahmusic.com
or $10 at the door. Ticket specials for “twitter.com/TVUshow” followers. Kudos to Gavin Allen for bringing this fun and creative event back to San Diego.
