The crowds seemed even bigger on Friday at Comic-Con, International, 2011. I wandered throughout the convention hall and downtown San Diego, trying to capture the flavor of the Con.
I even ran into fantasy author George R.R. Martin ("A Song of Ice and Fire" series, which was adapted by HBO into "Game of Thrones") on the street, just walking along looking for a place to eat lunch. His newest book, the 1,016-page "A Dance With Dragons" is already being touted as the biggest title of the summer, selling 280,000 print and digital copies on its first day. He was very sweet.

I think this is Jason, from Friday the 13th. I like that the Fright Night truck happened to be driving by at the exact time I took this photo.

I think these are Klingon women...but I'm not sure. I like shooting in the convention center atrium (upstairs) because the light is beautiful.

Spidey is looking pretty tired. You can find people napping along the edges of Comic-Con all the time.

This poor guy wanted a pass to get in on Friday. Maybe he ended up with one, but either way he saw a parade of costumes waiting outside the convention hall.
