'The Artist' Takes Top Prize

Tonight the Broadcast Film Critics Association bestowed their Critics Choice Awards, and France's "The Artist" took the top prize as well as a trio of others.

The Broadcast Film Critics Association is the largest film critics organization in the U.S. and Canada. It represents 250 television, radio, and Internet critics. Their Critics Choice Awards have, in a few short years, established themselves as a good predictor of the Oscars.

With that in mind, prepare for the black and white, French art house hit "The Artist" to garner some gold at the Oscars next month. The near dialogue-free film won best picture as well as best director for Michel Hazanavicius. But Americans claimed the top acting awards. George Clooney nabbed a best actor award for his work in "The Descendants," while Viola Davis took home the best actress award for "The Help."
