Gas prices soared above the $4 mark in February, but they are taking a much longer path to come down off that peak. Even so, there have been four straight weeks of price declines.
San Diego Gas Price Sliding Down
San Diego gas prices are on the verge of dipping below the $4 a gallon barrier. Prices have been falling since last month.
Wholesale gas prices fell sharply several weeks ago, but it has taken time for gas stations to adjust accordingly. A handful of local stations are sell gas for less than $4.
"The stations are gradually getting under that," said Marie Montgomery of the Southern California Automobile Club. "We're very close to the $4 mark at least. The wholesale prices definitely justify some additional declines."
Montgomery said two Escondido stations were among the first to price regular gas below $4. She said many more could drop below that line in the coming week.
