This Satelite map shows a Pacific storm moving into the San Diego region, where up to an inch of rain is expected along the coast and inland valleys.

A cold Pacific storm is making its way to San Diego today, bringing showers and thunderstorms, and snow in the mountains.

The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning for the mountains starting at 10 p.m, when four to eight inches of snow accumulation is expected between 4,000 and 6,000 feet, and eight to 12 inches is expected above 6,000 feet.

"Travel will be hazardous due to slippery roadways and poor visibility in heavy snow, blowing snow and fog,'' an NWS advisory stated.

Coastal and inland valley areas are expected to receive up to an inch of rain, according to NWS, and isolated thunderstorms with hail and heavy downpours are possible on Friday.

The storm is expected to move out of the region on Saturday morning.
