Budding inventors will get a chance to show off their wares this weekend at the inaugural Maker Faire San Diego in Balboa Park.
San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer has named it the Fall Centennial Event of 2015.
The festival of inventions is described as the biggest show-and-tell on Earth. It features tech enthusiasts, crafters, educators, hobbyists, artists and authors.
"Maker Faire is a celebration of all the different things that occur in our community, " said founder of Make Magazine and Maker Faire Dale Dougherty.
"We wanted to highlight it as a way to invite more people to make things and get involved, whether they have an interest in music or rockets, robots, electronics, to bring that all together and showcase it so we can create more makers."
