Padres fans showed up for a block party in San Diego's East Village Thursday ahead of the team's opening game against the San Francisco Giants.
New Padres slugger Manny Machado got a standing ovation when he walked up to the plate for the first time. Before a sold-out crowd at Petco Park, San Diego won the first game of the series, 2-0.

The East Village block party included live music, a food truck rally, beer garden, and free games and activities for pets and families. The party starts up again Friday at Noon, on J Street, between 6th and 10th Streets.
