Chechens Flee Racial Violence, Fault Authorities

An explosion of race-motivated violence in northwest Russia has Chechens and other natives of the country's southern Caucasus region fleeing their homes. Mobs attacked houses and businesses owned by people from the Russian Caucasus after two Northern Russians were killed in a bar fight.

Those fleeing say regional officials and police aren't protecting them from the biggest explosion of hate crimes since the Communist collapse.
