The leaders of Thailand's military coup announced Sunday the appointment of retired army commander Gen. Surayud Chulanont as the new interim prime minister. Surayud is expected to lead the country until new elections are held, which they say should happen within the next year. The coup leaders also presented an interim constitution that will replace the one they scrapped when they seized power from then Prime Minister Thaksin Shinowatra almost two weeks ago.
