San Diego State University officials completed their first set of meetings Thursday night seeking public input for the Mission Valley site.
The university is reaching out to the public as part of the school's commitment to observe the California Environmental Quality Act as it moves forward with plans to reshape the Mission Valley stadium site. Laura Shinn, SDSU's director of planning, said she is hopeful the environmental review will be done next January.
"It is an aspirational schedule but we've all committed to it and we have a lot of really high quality people working on it, so I have confidence that we'll make it," Shinn said.
The school got voter approval last November to negotiate a purchase deal for about 130 acres of the Mission Valley site. The school promises tear down the existing stadium and then build a small campus with a stadium, housing, two hotels, office and commercial space, and a river park.
SDSU is accepting public comments about the plan by emailing mvcomments@sdsu.edu until Feb. 19.
