A sailor aboard the San Diego-based guided-missile destroyer USS Halsey was reported missing at seaTuesday in the Gulf of Oman.The sailor failed to report for watch.
Navy.mil reports that helicopters from the Halsey, USNS Rainier, and the Royal Navy's HMS Cumberland are currently conducting search and rescue operations to find the missing sailor. F/A-18 Hornets from the USS Abraham Lincoln and a P-3 maritime patrol aircraft have also been involved in the search, according to the U.S. Naval Forces Central Command/5th Fleet.
The sailor's name is being withheld while the search is ongoing.
