Defense Secretary Orders Security Review Of Military Bases (Video)

In the wake of Monday's deadly shooting rampage at the Washington Navy Yard, Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel has ordered a review of security on U.S. military bases around the world.

According to USA Today:

The review will consider physical security and access to military bases.

Earlier Tuesday, Navy Secretary Ray Mabus released a statement saying he had ordered a "rapid review" of security procedures at Navy and Marine Corps bases in the United States:

"Our Sailors, Marines, and civilians are familiar with the dangers of service, but our security is something we can never take for granted. I ordered a review of every Navy and Marine Corps base in the United States to ensure that we live up to our responsibility of taking care of our people."

The review, headed up by Navy Adm. William E. Gortney and Marine Corps Lt. Gen. Rick Tryon, is due on Mabus's desk by October 1.

Hagel laid a wreath Tuesday morning at the U.S. Navy Memorial to honor the victims of the Washington Navy Yard shooting. I've posted video of that moving tribute below:
