The Nobel Prize for Medicine or Physiology goes to two Australians who made the startling discovery that most stomach ulcers are caused by a germ.

The conventional wisdom was that excess stomach acid caused ulcers; Robin Warren and Barry Marshall will share the $1.3 million prize for proving otherwise.
