The almond growers Travaille and Phippen of Ripon, Calif., had 88,000 pounds of almonds stolen this summer. But now police have broken up the almond theft ring that was responsible.
Only 5,000 pounds of the stolen almonds were recovered, but Dave Phippen, one of the owners of the company, says they are still very happy about the development. Most of the company's almonds had already been shipped out; the recovered almonds had been re-packaged in small, generic packages.
Robert Siegel talks with Phippen.
