Hillary Clinton Leads in Cash Race for 2008

Sen. Hillary Clinton has the most cash on hand of the candidates running for president, according to the latest campaign finance reports filed this weekend. The New York Democrat's $24 million includes $10 million transferred from her Senate campaign.

Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) has $19 million on hand, followed by John Edwards with $11 million and Sen. Chris Dodd (D-CT) with $7.5 million.

On the Republican side, Mitt Romney and Rudy Giuliani each have just under $12 million available. John McCain is third, with about $5 million, followed by Sen. Sam Brownback (R-KS), with $800,000.

Romney spent about $11 million — more than all the other candidates — in the first quarter, followed by McCain.
