San Diego’s Fire Chief is retiring next month. Fire Chief Tracy Jarman has been with the San Diego Fire Department for 25 years. She’s served as chief for the past three.
In a statement Jarman says the decision to retire wasn’t an easy one. She says her success is due to the support of the department. Jarman is the first woman to run San Diego’s fire department. She is one of only 34 female fire chiefs in the country.
Her retirement is effective June 27th. But she will stay on for two to three month to assist with the transition to a new Chief. The city will conduct a national search to find her replacement.
