The Occupy Wall Street protests may be thousands of miles away in the heart of New York, but that hasn't kept some San Diegans from hitting the streets of lower Manhattan.

Do you plan to participate in the Occupy San Diego protest on Friday?
Richard Halsey was one of more than 700 people arrested over the weekend as protesters took over the Brooklyn Bridge, as part of a nationwide effort to call for an end to economic and social inequality.
Halsey and others are now organizing a local spinoff. "What you've got is thousands of people, that care about one thing and one thing alone to make the world a better place, and they all got different ideas," Halsey said.
Critics say those ideas are too broad. Halsey got inspired for environmental reasons, he's the head of the California Chapparal Institute -- an environmental organization based in San Diego.
Occupy Wall Street has posted a draft of its demands on its website, issues range from unemployment, to health care and the death penalty.
But its wide appeal is what protesters say helps attract large crowds at demonstrations taking place across the country.
Occupy San Diego has been holding nightly meetings in anticipation of Friday's protest.
The group says they will march through the streets of Downtown San Diego in the afternoon and take over the Civic Center Plaza in Downtown, indefinitely.
Participants expect a couple hundred people will attend.
