Nike Launches ‘Just Do It’ Campaign With Colin Kaepernick
Two years after taking a knee and ultimately losing his NFL career over a debate on patriotism and social justice, Colin Kaepernick was unveiled as the face of Nike’s 30th anniversary ‘Just Do It’ campaign. While there has been some pushback online and from President Donald Trump, Nike is banking on a strategy that will connect with a younger generation.
Job Market Remains Strong
The monthly jobs report by the Department of Labor shows U.S. companies added 201,000 new jobs in August. The figure is slightly better than expectations and kept the national unemployment rate below four-percent. While the overall job market remains strong, the government is reporting a decline in manufacturing jobs.
Amazon Invests In San Diego
University City is home to a new Amazon Tech Hub. The company expects to add 300 jobs in fields such as engineering and computer science. The announcement follows a change in ownership for downtown San Diego's Horton Plaza, which will be redesigned to serve as a major campus for tech firms.
