There were two dozen fewer drunken driving arrests and one fewer fatality on San Diego County highways and freeways during this year's Thanksgiving Day weekend than at the same time last year, authorities announced Tuesday.
California Highway Patrol officers arrested 70 San Diego-area motorists on suspicion of drunken driving between 6:01 p.m. Wednesday and 11:59 p.m. Sunday and two fatalities occurred, according to the agency.
During the same period in 2012, there were 94 DUI arrests and three fatalities locally, the CHP said released in a statement this morning.
Statewide, CHP officers made 1,201 DUI arrests and there were 33 fatalities this Thanksgiving Day weekend compared to 1,320 and 44, respectively, in 2012.
